She/her

San is an award-winning web developer who thrives on helping others through technology. After earning a degree in Computer Information Systems and minor in Physics from Appalachian State University, she spent the next 17 years doing web development, project management, online advertising, and search engine marketing. San is passionate about web development and UX, especially accessibility.

Currently, San is a UX Web Development Team Lead at Relias. She guides team development efforts towards successful project delivery while providing technical leadership to teammates.

In her free time, San enjoys going on adventures with her family, mentoring teenage girls all over the globe who have an interest in STEM careers, serving as Co-Leader for a Girl Scouts troop, gardening, and painting.

Even though there is a national dialogue around diversity within technology, women of color remain discriminated against, under-represented, and underpaid within many companies. Diversity within technology is critical. It empowers organizations to create better user experiences and products that are more inclusive. This talk explores the experiences of women of color in technology, how to turn haters into motivators, and how to be an intentional ally.
