Products with personality: Using human emotion to connect with users

  • Session (Track B) (map)

Jon Robinson

Personality is the driving force behind a brand experience. It’s the self-expressive component that the consumer connects with to strengthen meaningful relationships and emotions around a product. The stronger a consumer identifies with a product, the more likely they are to spend time and money on it. When we place intentional focus on the personality of a product, and connect to human desires, we are able to meet user needs and build personal relationships. This talk will explore several products—from mobile apps to smart lightbulbs to kitchen utensils—that delight consumers and connect at the personal level to capture product love.
