Eyes on usability

  • Session (Track A) (map)

Laura Ruel

Most user experience designers have heard of eye tracking technology. However, understanding when it helps to include it with your usability testing is key. This hands-on session will allow participants to determine when to use eye tracking for user testing. The practicum will be broken up into four parts. In a large group, participants will get a quick overview of what eye tracking is and when, how and why to use it. In small groups, participants are given a number of user tasks and are challenged to decide which tasks could be best understood using eye tracking technology. Participants reconvene in the large group to review their determinations and view actual eye tracking videos of the tasks. Participants provided with resources, how-to guides and suggestions.
